One of our favourite British folk LPs here. John Martyn was Nick Drake's roommate and the influence on each other's songwriting is evident. The title track of this LP was written to eulogize Drake (who was "Living on nothing but Solid Air...") Martyn seems to be transforming his voice into something like air, too: experimenting with vocal lines that seem as much like reed instrument as vocal chord. Bewitching stuff...
