Revolutionary True Ribbon Technology:
At the heart of the Revela 1 lies Quad's latest True Ribbon high-frequency driver, measuring 27 x 60mm. This technology traces its lineage back over 70 years to Quad's legendary Corner Ribbon speaker from 1949. The True Ribbon design positions a thin aluminum foil diaphragm in a high-strength magnetic field, with the audio signal flowing directly through the ribbon itself. This "true ribbon" configuration - where the entire diaphragm is energized by the audio signal - delivers audibly superior high frequencies compared to typical dome tweeters and other planar designs.
The ribbon's reinforced sandwich construction improves power handling while maintaining a moving mass approximately one-tenth that of conventional dome tweeters. This dramatic reduction in mass translates to improved transient response, superior detail resolution, and effortless reproduction of the most subtle harmonic overtones and spatial cues in recordings.
Reveal Advanced Fiber Cone:
Complementing the True Ribbon tweeter is a 165mm (6.5") mid/bass driver featuring Quad's proprietary Reveal diaphragm material - a unique formulation of wood pulp and artificial fibers (including para-aramid) developed specifically for the Revela series. This advanced composite combines the renowned midrange transparency of paper cones with enhanced damping and structural strength from synthetic fiber reinforcement.
The Reveal cone is mounted in a rigid cast chassis with a high-power motor system featuring oversized voice coils and magnets for high sensitivity and dynamic capability. Optimized Cabinet Design:
The rear-ported bass reflex enclosure utilizes precision-engineered port tubes with optimal diameter and carefully designed flaring to prevent longitudinal resonances that could color the speaker's performance.
