Patrice Rushen started off playing synths and electric piano and cuting albums in fusion mode, giving Herbie Hancock and co. a serious run for their money, before switching gears and delivering some extremely fine soul albums towards the later 70s and into the early 80s. Turns out she was an amazing singer, too! This is the highwater mark during her jazz / fusion phase. Essential!
